In two or so years, the EU will be completly free of dependence on Putin’s gas; and he knows it. So, Putin has two years to use it – as a weapon – or lose it. We have to be ready. Filling storage is not sufficient. There would be gas rationing and cutoffs.
I described the pain Putin can cause this winter in Europe and how this is a part of the economic war being inflicted upon Europe and its allies – on the USA and others – as a second war front alongside Russia’s war against Ukraine.
This weaponization of Europe’s – and especially Germany’s – overdependence on Russian energy is designed to test EU members’ solidarity with Ukraine.
